MORE than 500 families suffering from “fuel poverty” in one English county has had their financial outlook greatly improved in just five months.

 A 19th century waterworks and pumping station which has been turned into one of the most environmentally advanced office buildings in Britain is the new home to climate change charity the Marches Energy Agency.

The Pump House on the banks of the River Severn in the medieval market town of Shrewsbury has 70% fewer harmful emissions compared to standard new offices.

SHROPSHIRE GREEN INITIATIVE IN LINE FOR NATIONAL RECOGNITION

A SHROPSHIRE environmental initiative that advocates small-scale actions to produce major results is in line for an award for the difference it is making in the age of climate change.

The Academy for Sustainable Communities - Britain's national centre for delivering the skills and knowledge to make better places - has picked out the Low Carbon Communities project in the county.

Renewable technology fairs

The Low Carbon Communities team are staging two trade fairs in April to demonstrate renewable technologies to local businesses and residents.

Present will be a large number of expert demonstrators who will answer all your questions on the technologies on display, which will include solar panels, wind turbines and biomass heaters.

All of the technologies on view are less harmful on the environment than conventional sources and can reduce your bills as well as your CO2 emissions!!!

Presentation for Ellesmere Chamber of Commerce

Two members of the Low Carbon Communities team recently undertook a presentation for the Ellesmere Chamber of Commerce to discuss the energy saving measures that are available to the businesses of Ellesmere (as well as the other two areas).

Representatives from a diverse range of businesses in Ellesmere were in attendance to hear about the exciting range of energy saving measures that are available, such as low energy light bulbs and renewable energy technologies.
