Today, the world's leading green energy Awards scheme announced that Marches Energy Agency (MEA), is one of the pioneering energy projects from the UK, Africa, Asia and Latin America chosen as finalists for the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2009. MEA will compete in the Charity Award category for up to £30,000 in prize money, to be used for project development and expansion.
On-line monitoring being used in 7 counties

Included in this are people from community groups from Somerset, Shropshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Powys and Warwickshire.

Shropshire 'Saves' 825 Flights Around The World

A GREEN household campaign in one English county has saved the equivalent in greenhouse gas emissions of 825 flights around the world this year - and it will go on saving that for another 20 years.
It has also improved the financial outlook for 800 families in Shropshire who have all been removed from what is called "fuel poverty".
The Keep Shropshire Warm campaign launched one year ago has in turn witnessed a big reduction in carbon dioxide emissions through simple energy-saving measures.

THE final limited edition packs of an iconic card game that is a guide to cheaper-to-run cars are being sold as Christmas stocking fillers.
The Eco Vehicles Top Trumps game is among a series of easy-on-the-pocket gifts from the charity's online shop -
The game - which created controversy among motoring writers - was developed by climate change charity Marches Energy Agency in association with Winning Moves, the Top Trumps company.

The Long Mynd Hotel was host to a Wood Energy showcase event last Thursday. Over fifty people attended from around the region to see the two working ‘bio-mass' installations. With rising heating costs now might be the time to make the switch to wood fuel. For many in the county on increasingly expensive heating oil, wood fuelled heating is a very viable option.

Chances are you will have built a bonfire this week. But if you're living or working in a rural property you could be using wood fuel to heat it instead of expensive heating oil. With rising heating costs now might be the time to make the switch to wood fuel!
That's the advice from the Shrewsbury based environmental charity, Marches Energy Agency. They want to show residents of the Shropshire Hills area and beyond exactly how, this Thursday evening at the Long Mynd Hotel.
