The Royal Hill is a popular pub in Edgerley, part of the Floodplain Community. Lighting for the pub is in use for at least 8 hours a day. However, over 4 tonnes of CO2 were being wasted each year due to the use of “normal” incandescent bulbs, rather than their latest low energy counterparts! This extra energy usage was costing the Royal Hill £800 per year.

Action Taken:

54 low energy, long-life bulbs were fitted, including the latest low energy candle and spot reflector bulbs.
Cost = £413

Savings made:

Overall CO2 savings = Over 19 tonnes
(The equivalent of driving 80,000 miles in a medium sized petrol car)

Yearly Cost savings = £800
Lifetime savings = £3800
Payback period = 6 months
